How
to identify Spyware
Here
are some easy ways to determine if you PC has Spyware
Pop
up ads
Pop up ads are a sure fire way to identify if you PC
is infected with some sort of Spyware. These ads will
pop up, unsolicited, at unexpected times during normal
activites. Anytime an pop up message directing you to
go to a web page appears without being online is an
indication of Spyware activity. These should not be
confused by pop up ads that an internet site will display
as these are controlled by the web site you are visiting.
Browser
Redirects(Hijacks)
Ever notice your home page is not www.Google.com or
www.MSN.com anymore and is pointing to some search directory
that you would hate for your kids to look through? If
you have, your browser has been hijacked. Browser Hijacking
or Redirecting is another Spyware method to get you
to an unsolicited page. Even setting your home page
back to where it was usually won't fix this problem.
It takes your PC to be cleaned from a good
Spyware removal software.
Unsolicited
Download attempts
If you've ever noticed your virus software alerting
you that an "Unknown program is attempting to connect
to the internet", you most likely have a Spyware program
trying to connect to its home or another computer to
infect. You may also get a download pop up on a web
page that asks if you would like to save a file that
you have not requested. Take action
at once to clean your PC.
Dialers
Internet dialers are nasty little programs that attempt
to dial a phone number from your computer that will
eventually require you to pay some sort of per minute
bill. These are normally linked to porn sites and will
often try to connect to 900 numbers. Dialers will attempt
to connect at frequent intervals, so it is very important
to have these removed immediately
after discovery.
Slow
Internet Connection
A slow internet connection is not always caused by Spyware,
but can be an indication of infection. If you experience
a slow internet connection and your signal seems strong,
check what is running in your task manager. You may
see a program that is not familiar and could be the
culprit for eating up bandwidth. If nothing appears
out of the ordinary, use our free
scan to identify spyware.
Poor
PC Performance
Poor PC performance is not always caused by Spyware,
but can be an indication of infection. Check what is
running in your task manager. You may see a program
that is not familiar and could be the culprit for eating
up CPU. If nothing appears out of the ordinary, use
our free scan to identify
spyware.
